November 17, 2008: I am now of the elite. The high-class. The coffee-drinker-snooty’s-of-America club. I am now a Starbucks Gold Card holder! But…a funny story to follow: I received a Starbucks gift card from the head-honchos of Best Buy today for doing a job well done! Granted only $10.00, but, a very nice gesture from Best Buy District 91 headquarters. :-) Anywho, I digress. I decided to go to Starbucks and pick up a yummy hot chocolate. While I was there I thought “Oooo, I can use my 10 bucks to put torward a Starbucks Gold Card!” A new employee at Starbucks (we’ll call him New Starbucks Guy, NSG) checked me out. NSG took my gift card and put $10.00 towards the $25.00 Starbucks Gold Card. Apparently, just when he scanned my gift card, a computer glitch occurred and accepted the entire amount for the Gold Card! What?! The manager (we’ll call him Manager Starbucks Guy, “MSG.” Er, rather…”Dude.” MSD.) said it was “A-OK” and to simply take the card and carry on with my merry way. WooWho! And that is how I became a Starbucks Gold Card holder. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention I got a free beverage as well simply for signing up. :-)
